Break over: Mpumalanga department impressed with school return

Grade 12 learners returned to school yesterday and, Mpumalanga Education Department said it was impressed by the return of grade the learners and teachers.

According to the department, almost all schools in the province returned without any challenges.

“The Department will continue to work with schools to ensure adherence and compliance to COVID-19 health and safety imperatives as teachers, learners and everyone at school should not be exposed to infections” said the department.

With some schools in the province still struggling with water and sanitation infrastructure, the department expressed that such areas will be given consideration.

The department’s MEC, Bonakele Majuba urged learners, and teachers to adhere to basic hygiene requirements.

“We are thrilled by the smooth return of our teachers and grade 12 learners to school and we take this opportunity to extend our undivided support to all our learners, teachers and the support staff throughout the year. We also wish to emphasise that key to our objectives is to ensure that everyone is safe and protected while we salvage the school year. We therefore request that there must be no relaxation in adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols in our schools, ” said MEC Majuba
