The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation based in Mbombela dismantled a dagga laboratory in Mbombela Mpumalanga.
The Hawks arrested a 33-year-old coloured male Julio Cohen for owning a drug laboratory and manufacturing.
The suspect was arrested Wednesday, 18 May 2022 in Nelspruit town.
“Information was received from the reliable source about the house in Nelspruit where drugs were manufactured. A search and seizure warrant was authorised by the court and a disruptive operation was conducted,” said Hawks spokesperson Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi.
In a statement, the Hawks said that the house of the suspect was visited and a search was conducted.
“During the search Inside the house the police found room that was used as a laboratory to process dagga,” she added.
During the search, Hawks found and seized an erected tent with a lights thermometer, 3 Electric fans, electric extensions, and other equipment used to process dagga.
“The suspect was arrested and taken to court. The suspect is disabled and uses a wheelchair to move around. He appeared before the Nelspruit Magistrate Court and he was released on R1000 bail the case is postponed to 4 July 2022 for further investigation,” she added.
